I attended a workshop by Keith Andry while I lived in LA and he taught us to paint on location using only earth tones, which was a limited palette. I loved his work, he was a blue ribbon winner in the art shows. The very first painting I ever bought was one of his watercolors.
The painting that I did at this workshop sold, and after 30 some years later, the second owner of it (bought at a yard sale after the first owner passed away) contacted me via my website and wanted to know where this particular scene was painted. It was in Laurel Valley, LA, where we saw some slave houses. You can see them in the far distance in this photo of Keith, a young mentor whom I was privileged to learn from. Then the other photo here shows the painting that I did.
